Monkeytoe is proud to have contributed to the transformation of 111 Bourke Street, Melbourne, a premium A-Grade commercial office tower reimagined in partnership with Charter Hall and Brookfield Properties as part of the broader East End Place precinct.
The Project
Spanning 46,250 square metres across 21 storeys, the building comprises over 44,700 square metres of office accommodation across 20 levels, complemented by 1,520 square metres of retail space within the vibrant Southern Cross retail laneway below. Reimagined as a modern, sustainable workplace destination, the building also features premium end of trip facilities, co-working spaces, a town hall, cafe tenancy and EV charging, all within easy walking distance of Melbourne’s Parliament precinct.
Our Solution
Monkeytoe’s scope on the rooftop plant deck combined two of our proprietary systems: the XBEAM structural platform, a fully modular, high-tensile aluminium beam system up to 65% lighter than its steel equivalent, provided the structural foundation for the plant deck installation, while our platform mounted louvre system ensured our solution fit seamlessly with the refined architectural language of the building, maintaining the clean, premium aesthetic that a landmark CBD address demands.
What set our Monkeytoe solution apart on this project was the ability to break the entire system down into modular segments, allowing it to be manually transported up the building and eliminating the need for cranage. As specialists in aluminium engineering, our systems offer far greater flexibility than traditional steel alternatives, while still meeting the full structural requirements of the project without compromise.
